Biography
Formed in Brighton, the indie quartet known as the Magic Gang drew its founding members from Home School, Yrrs, and Echochamp. The lineup featured Angus Taylor on bass, Jack Kaye sharing vocals and guitar, Kristian Smith also handling vocals and guitar, and Paeris Giles on drums, with the American band Weezer serving as a primary influence. Their opening single, "Alright," surfaced in 2015, after which three EPs and multiple further singles appeared over the next several years. In 2017 the group journeyed to rural Oxfordshire to shape its first album alongside producer Jolyon Thomas, whose credits include U2 and Daughter. Following a signing to Warner, the self-titled debut album arrived in 2018.
