Biography
Spring King, an indie outfit from Manchester, started out in 2012 when producer Tarek Musa launched it as his own solo project. Fiery garage pop tracks from those early sessions quickly expanded into a group effort once he brought in Peter Darlington, James Green, and Andy Morton—friends from their high school days. The Transgressive label put out their debut single "Mumma/Mumma, Pt. II" at the start of 2014, and Demons, their first EP, came later in the same year. Spring King secured a deal with Handsome Dad by spring 2015, at which point they had already garnered critical praise and BBC backing. After wrapping up a U.S. run that included SXSW, the band joined Courtney Barnett for shows across the U.K. and Europe to promote their next EP, They're Coming After You, which spotlighted the track "City." Their first full-length, Tell Me If You Like To, appeared in 2016 and included prior singles like "City" and "Who Are You" mixed with fresh material. The group spent the next twelve months touring the country to push the album, after which they headed back into the studio for their second record. That follow-up, A Better Life, saw release halfway through 2018.
