Indoor Pets, an alternative pop/rock quartet based in Kent, England, first drew attention with the high-energy, chaotic pop-punk numbers “Being Strange” and “Pro Procrastinator,” both featured on their 2019 debut album Be Content. The lineup consists of Jamie Glass, Ollie Nunn, and siblings Rob and James Simpson; the four musicians formed the group in 2014 purely for recreational performances. A string of shows across the South-East soon prompted them to treat the project with greater commitment. Roughly twelve months of songwriting and studio work followed, after which the band issued its initial singles—“My Oh My” and “Teriyaki”—in 2016. Those tracks prompted critics to note stylistic echoes of Fidlar and Weezer. In 2017 the group unveiled two further songs, “All My Friends” and “Barbiturates,” and the next year it secured a deal with Wichita Recordings. Be Content arrived in early 2019.
