Flor, raised in Oregon yet headquartered in Los Angeles, fuses indie rock and synth pop into a sound marked by atmospheric hooks. The outfit first surfaced in 2014 via the Sounds EP, then issued the full-length Sights & Sounds on Fueled by Ramen the following year. Continued refinement produced the 2017 album come out. you're hiding and the 2019 set ley lines. After the Reimagined EP appeared in 2020, the band returned with Future Shine in 2022.

The project originated in Hood River, Oregon, in 2014 as the vehicle for vocalist Zachary Grace, bassist Dylan Williams, guitarist McKinley Kitts, and drummer Kyle Hill. Grace began by testing electronic production tools to craft memorable synth textures, after which Williams assembled full tracks around those fragments and refreshed the feel of the 1980s for present-day listeners. Once the members relocated to Los Angeles, they partnered with photographer and designer Jade Ehlers, who shaped the group’s singular visual identity, while Williams simultaneously built a production résumé that encompassed work for Flor alongside Halsey and Lostboycrow. The debut single “Heart” surfaced online in 2014, followed by the Sounds EP that October.

After Sights & Sounds arrived in 2015, Flor joined Fueled by Ramen in 2016; the label promptly reissued the Sounds EP in February. The imprint’s first Flor album, come out. you're hiding, emerged in May 2017 and contained the single “Guarded.” Another single, “Get Behind This,” followed in December 2018.

In September 2019 the band delivered its second album, ley lines, and completed the accompanying tour just before the COVID-19 pandemic began. During the next year they released the Reimagined EP, which offered reworked versions of earlier hits plus a cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow.” Further non-album singles appeared, including 2020’s “lmho” and a 2021 interpretation of the holiday standard “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Flor resumed original material with the third album Future Shine in February 2022, featuring the singles “Play Along,” “Skate,” and “Big Shot,” then toured again that fall.
