Polish pianist Aleksander Dębicz moves fluidly across idioms that stretch from core classical repertory through Baroque works and into crossover territory, while also functioning as both improviser and composer. Beyond solo appearances across Eastern and Western Europe, he has accompanied singers and players from classical, jazz, pop, and rock backgrounds, most recently supporting countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński on the 2024 Erato release #LetsBaRock.

He completed his training at Warsaw’s Frédéric Chopin University of Music under Elżbieta Tarnawska and later participated in master classes led by Robert Levin, András Schiff, Andrea Bonatta, and Alexander Bragińsky. Early recognition arrived in the form of first prize plus a special award at the 15th International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition; he also received the Haydn sonata prize at the tenth International Piano Competition in Bremen, Germany, in 2005 and earned a composition-and-improvisation prize at Poland’s Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest in 2013. Two years afterward he issued his debut recording, Cinematic Piano, on Warner Classics, an entirely self-composed collection shaped by film imagery and incorporating improvisational passages.

Dębicz has sustained an active schedule as recitalist and orchestral soloist, appearing with the Wrocław Philharmonic in Warsaw, at Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, and at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, among other locations. He has undertaken several Romanian tours and inaugurated the Young Talents series at Warsaw’s Fryderyk Chopin Museum in 2012; the following year he performed at the Chopin in the Luxembourg Gardens Festival in Paris. Chamber-music collaborations have linked him with contralto Wanda Franek, cellist Marcin Zdunik, and saxophonist Wojcieck Psiuk, while additional credits include theatrical productions and film scores. Warner Classics has continued to document his work through projects such as the 2021 crossover album Adela and the 2024 Erato recording #LetsBaRock, both made with Jakub Józef Orliński.
