Biography
Alexander Chapman Campbell is a pianist whose playing balances restraint with emotional depth, and a number of his solo piano pieces draw on the stark coastal scenery of the North Sea for their introspective mood. His first recording, the self-produced Ten Sketches of Light, appeared in 2013.
At nineteen he left Scotland’s Central Lowlands for the northern shore of the Moray Firth, where he completed work on that debut collection. After online radio championed the album later the same year, Decca reissued it in 2014 under the slightly shortened title Sketches of Light.
Campbell next issued the independent album Portraits of Earth in 2016. Two years later came his third full-length release, Journey to Nidaros, which grew out of a solitary journey through Norway. His initial outing for Signum Records, the EP Contemplations, arrived in 2019.
