Biography
While her prominence largely stems from screen work on British television—including a long-running role as a judge on Britain's Got Talent—Amanda Holden also ventured into recording, issuing her first collection, Songs from My Heart, during 2020.
Although born in Portsmouth, she grew up in the Hampshire community of Bishop's Waltham, where an early flair for performance led her to join a neighborhood drama circle and later enroll at Bournemouth’s Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. During the 1990s she accumulated numerous television credits, among them the BBC comedy Kiss Me Kate as well as episodes of The Bill, Eastenders, and Jonathan Creek. The following decade brought opportunities in presenting and a series of stage musicals, one of which earned her a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her work in the 2004 production Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Her established profile in the arts prompted Simon Cowell to invite her onto the panel of his 2007 competition Britain’s Got Talent. In the years that followed, Holden balanced those judging duties with further television hosting, documentary projects, and occasional guest spots before turning her attention to music. October 2020 saw the release of Songs from My Heart, an album on which she interpreted several beloved theatrical numbers alongside a selection of cover recordings.
