Biography
The Welsh pop outfit Amen Corner infused its sound with R&B during the 1960s and featured Andy Fairweather Low as lead singer, Blue Weaver on organ, Neil Jones on guitar, Clive Taylor on bass, Allen Jones and Mike Smith on saxophones, and Dennis Bryon on drums. Their breakthrough arrived in summer 1967 when “Gin House” launched a run of six British hits. Early in 1969 the single “(If Paradise Is) Half as Nice” reached the top spot. Fairweather Low had by then become a teenage heartthrob, the group had changed both management and record labels, and the band dissolved before the year ended.
