Biography
Navarra displayed extraordinary talent from an early age, beginning his training at the Toulouse Conservatory before moving on to the Paris Conservatoire and earning the premier prix from each. His professional debut occurred in 1931 at the Colonne Concerts in Paris. Engagements soon followed across Europe plus the USA, Mexico, Canada, USSR, India, Japan and Australia. He later joined the faculty at numerous leading institutions, among them the Paris Conservatory and the Vienna Hochschule fur Musik. Critics praised the elegance of his playing together with its considered yet fervent character, noting how readily he shifted between solo recitals and chamber settings.
