Ange earned recognition as France's counterpart to Genesis, owing to the band's intensely dramatic approach to progressive rock, and they put out 14 albums spanning the 1970s through the middle of the 1980s. Fronted by the Decamps brothers, Christian and Francis, on vocals, the lineup also featured Jean-Michel Brezovar on guitar, Daniel Haas handling bass, and Gerard Jelsch on drums. Although Caricatures marked Ange's debut studio release, the double album In Concert drew from earlier live performances prior to any studio work. La Cimetiere des Arlequins stood out as their top-selling record in 1973, achieving gold certification within France.
