Biography
Beginning his musical journey at the age of six, Anthony Wonsey, an adventurous yet flexible pianist poised for notable achievements, first received instruction from his mother, a classical pianist, before continuing with Zilner Randolph. Securing a full scholarship to Berklee, he completed his studies there in 1994 and subsequently relocated to Boston, where he performed locally alongside Roy Hargrove, Antonio Hart, and additional musicians. Even prior to graduation from Berklee, Wonsey embarked on tours with Christopher Hollyday, Nnenna Freelon, and Kenny Garrett. In recent years, he has maintained regular performances and recordings as part of the ensembles led by Carl Allen and Nicholas Payton. Anthonyology marks his initial release as a bandleader, captured for the Japanese Alfa Jazz imprint and issued in the United States through Evidence.
