Biography
A monk from Catalonia who worked as an organist, this highly productive creator of both religious and non-religious pieces trained under Domenico Scarlatti. His modern reputation rests chiefly on the keyboard compositions, whose natural suitability to the instrument, formal organization, and embrace of Spanish harmonic and rhythmic colors all reveal Scarlatti’s lasting imprint.
