Biography

In the late 1980s, Apache forged a reputation on the New Jersey streets as frontman of the hip-hop crew the Flavor Unit. He later stepped out on his own to display his microphone abilities, drawing the interest of Tommy Boy Records along the way. His self-titled debut arrived in 1991, and two years later he notched the underground hit “Gangsta Bitch” with no assistance from radio or video exposure. Building on that limited breakthrough, Apache delivered “...Ain't Shit” in the same year. ~ Mike DaRonco
