Biography
Formed in the latter half of the 1960s, the Asylum Choir paired session keyboardist Leon Russell (b. April 2, 1942) with guitarist Marc Benno (b. July 1, 1947). The two musicians issued a pair of albums, beginning with 1968’s Look Inside the Asylum Choir and continuing with Asylum Choir II. Although the second set was tracked in April 1969, contractual complications kept it from reaching stores until November 1971. Russell had already risen to prominence as a solo artist by then.
