Bagad de Lann-Bihoue serve as the sole military ensemble upholding both French naval traditions and Breton regional heritage while playing a central role in safeguarding Breton culture. Established in 1952 at the naval air station of Lann-Bihoue, the group—whose roster of roughly thirty percussionists, bagpipes, and bombard players continually changes—has appeared before multiple French presidents, the Queen, and Pope John Paul II, all while weathering repeated governmental efforts to disband the ensemble across its history.

Breakthrough recognition arrived in the late 1980s through a self-titled debut album and a performance on Champs-Elysees alongside Alain Souchon, the artist who had already written a 1977 tribute to the band. The year 1997 brought a further credit when the musicians supplied the soundtrack to the miniseries Entre Terre et Mer; two decades later, in 2012, they marked their sixtieth anniversary with the hit album Degemer Mat, Bienvenue.
