Biography
Julius Wechter, the marimba player born May 10, 1935, leads the nine-piece instrumental outfit the Baja Marimba Band, an offshoot of Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass that landed a contract with Alpert's A&M Records label. The group landed repeated chart entries in the latter half of the 1960s through covers of then-current hits, reaching their highest single position at number 41 with the 1964 track "Comin' in the Back Door"; their strongest album chart result came with the 1967 LP Watch Out!.
