Band À Part

Formed toward the end of the 2000s, the Spanish duo Band à Part promptly secured a deal with Elefant, widely regarded as their nation’s premier indie pop imprint. Drawing their name from Jean-Luc Godard’s 1964 film and taking cues from the buoyant, melody-rich sound of fellow Elefant acts as well as outfits such as Acid House Kings and the Aislers Set, Javier and Coral made their recorded debut via the 2010 single “No Sé Por Qué.” The following year brought a second release, “Una Persona Normal con Gafas de Metal.” A comparatively quiet 2012 saw only two tracks surface: “Cascabel” on the Where It’s at Is Where You Are compilation It’s the Taking Part That Counts, and “Donde Todo Sigue Igual” on the label’s holiday collection A Christmas Gift for You from Elefant Records. Early the next year the pair reemerged with the six-song mini-album La Aventura Original.
