Biography
In the aftermath of a heated clash between Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher at a summer festival that prompted Noel's exit and dissolved the group, the British alt-rock band Beady Eye assembled in 2009. Later that year, Liam joined former Oasis colleagues Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Chris Sharrock to reserve studio space with producer Steve Lillywhite for a fresh project, intending to issue the initial single under the new name by November 2010. Their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, arrived in early 2011 via the band's own imprint in Europe and Dangerbird Records in the U.S., drawing favorable notices across both continents. The group soon declared plans to incorporate select Oasis material into their concerts, a decision that led to a rendition of "Wonderwall" during the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony in London. Liam Gallagher and the others subsequently returned to recording for a follow-up effort, enlisting TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek as an unforeseen producer. The resulting album, BE, surfaced in June 2013.
