After departing the Rolling Stones in 1993, founding bassist Bill Wyman largely stepped away from performing to focus on family life and his Sticky Fingers restaurant. Music drew him back in 1997 when he assembled Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, an ever-changing ensemble devoted to vintage rock & roll, R&B, blues, and boogie. The lineup revolved around keyboardist Georgie Fame, guitarist Albert Lee, pianist Gary Brooker, and guitarist Terry Taylor. Their debut, Struttin' Our Stuff, surfaced the same year, followed in 1999 by Anyway the Wind Blows, which included guest spots from Peter Frampton, Geraint Watkins, Paul Carrack, and fellow Stone Keith Richards. Groovin' appeared in 2000 and climbed to number 52 on the British album chart, the group's highest placement. Double Bill followed in 2001 and Just for a Thrill arrived in 2004, after which the band shifted emphasis to the road. Two concert documents, Rhythm Kings Live (2005) and Live Communication (2011), captured those shows, yet the collective waited until 2017 to issue another studio set, Rocking the Roots.
