Biography
Emerging from the American black metal underground in the mid-nineties after the breakup of the similar outfit Irreverent, the group first performed as Witchery before adopting the name Black Witchery in 1999. Following the release of two split efforts and one EP, the punishing ensemble delivered its caustic debut full-length, Desecration of the Holy Kingdom, through Full Moon Productions in 2001. A 2005 agreement with the French independent label Osmose Productions paved the way for the sophomore album Upheaval of Satanic Might, which was followed by the split LP Desecration & Sodomy with Archgoat in 2008 and the concert recording Live Desecration Ritual in 2010. The studio album Inferno of Sacred Destruction surfaced the same year, and Evil Shall Prevail arrived in 2016 on Nuclear War Now! Productions, gathering material from the band’s initial demos and split EPs while also presenting several previously unreleased outtakes.
