From his base in San Diego, California, Evan Bartholomew shapes experimental noise under the Bluetech alias. After classical piano training geared toward public recitals, Bartholomew stepped away from conventional repertoire to channel rhythms arising internally, which marked the emergence of Bluetech. The resulting work translates nature’s essence into dronal ambient, downtempo, and improvisational forms. He explored the expressive range of electronic tools and applied them across IDM, digidub, and psychedelic trance.

Bartholomew founded and continues to direct an art collective in San Diego while supplying commercial sound design and production to both national and regional clients. He also composes and produces his own material. The pieces “The Rubicon,” “Prayers For Rain,” and “Mezzamorphic” first appeared on an EP issued by Truffle Records, which extended Bluetech’s reach to a wider audience. In September 2003 those tracks were featured on Bluetech’s debut album, Prima Materia, released by Waveform Records.
