Biography
Celebrated for their sharp, frequently politically infused lyrics and dynamic stage energy, the five-piece German hip-hop outfit Blumentopf drew widespread attention. The Munich-based group, whose name translates to “flower pot,” came together in 1992 with MCs Cajus Heinzmann, Bernhard Wunderlich, Florian Schuster, and Roger Manglus joined by DJ Sebastian “Sepalot” Weiss. Their first full-length, Kein Zufall, surfaced in 1997 and introduced the popular single “6Meter90.” After inking a deal with Fourmusic, the quintet delivered the follow-up Grosses Kino in 1999. The 2001 album Eins A entered the Top 20 of the German pop charts, and after Juice, the European rap publication, named them Best Live Band, Blumentopf unveiled the fourth LP Gern Geschehen. A subsequent break allowed DJ Sepalot to issue his solo project Fraud. The long-anticipated Musikmaschine finally reached listeners in autumn 2006.
