Bob DiPiero earned money playing rock ‘n’ roll in Ohio bands, which helped pay for his college degree. He relocated to Nashville during the late 1970s to focus exclusively on writing songs. His initial breakthrough arrived with “Forever In Your Eyes,” recorded by Reba McEntire, who also cut his composition “Little Rock.” DiPiero seldom works solo, relying instead on co-writers whose skills match or complement his own. Among the tracks he has placed are “American Made” for the Oak Ridge Boys, “Cleopatra, Queen Of Denial” for Pam Tillis, “(Do You Love Me) Just Say Yes” for Highway 101, “Sentimental Ol’ You” for Charly McClain, and “That Rock Won’t Roll” for Restless Heart. From 1991 to 1998 he was married to Tillis and later served as president of the Nashville Songwriters’ Association. He also performs with the informal group Billy Hill, whose members are drawn from the city’s pool of session players and songwriters; the band reached the U.S. country charts with “Too Much Month At The End Of The Money” and a cover of the Four Tops’ “I Can’t Help Myself.” More recent cuts include “Ancient History” by Prairie Oyster, “Forgiveness” by Victoria Shaw, “I Am Just A Rebel” by Confederate Railroad, “Let Me Drive” by Greg Holland, “Take Me As I Am” by Faith Hill, “Take That” by Lisa Brokop, “Wink” by Neal McCoy, and, best of all, “Wild Love” by Joy Lynn White.
