Although Bobby Troup extends beyond the confines of jazz performance alone, his contributions to the field stand out through multiple avenues. In his capacity as a songwriter he created "Daddy," "Snooty Little Cutie," "Baby, Baby All the Time," and the major hit "Route 66." For years Troup has distinguished himself as a skilled pianist who led a steady jazz trio during the 1950s, as an engaging vocalist whose earliest recordings occasionally displayed excessive affectation, and as an actor, while also hosting the landmark television series Stars of Jazz from 1956 to 1958 that presented a who's who of jazz players. He further supervised production of several best-selling records by his wife, Julie London.
