Sofiane Boussaadia records and performs as Boef, ranking among the foremost Dutch rappers and vloggers. His rapid, assured delivery rides productions shaped by Euro-disco, Arabian traditions, and American hip-hop. Both of his studio albums, 2017’s Slaaptekort and 2020’s Allemaal een droom, reached the summit of the Dutch charts.
Born in Aubervilliers, France, in 1993 to Algerian parents, Boussaadia shuttled among France, the Netherlands, and America throughout childhood. As a teenager he completed a two-year term in Dutch juvenile detention, then launched his rap career upon release at age 18. He joined the roster of Zonamo Entertainment in 2015. His debut EP, Gewoon Boef, arrived the next year and peaked at number four on the Dutch Top 100 albums chart. While each of his first five singles earned gold or platinum certification, “Habiba” delivered his decisive breakthrough by topping the chart and achieving quadruple-platinum status. The 2017 full-length Slaaptekort also reached number one, setting the stage for the chart-topping 2018 EP 93. After the 2019 singles “Allang al niet meer” and “Guap” each claimed the top position, he returned with his second album, Allemaal een droom, in 2020 and again led the album rankings. The Jonna Fraser collaboration “10 Keer” followed in 2021.
