Biography
Pioneering dance music producer and arranger Boris Midney ranked among the chief architects of the Euro-disco sound. An early adopter of 48-track recording technology, he developed a signature combination of strings, horns, and percussion that yielded a depth and richness unmatched in the disco period. A native of Russia, Midney began as a classically trained composer creating film scores before finding his true vocation in disco. Under numerous aliases such as Caress, Beautiful Bend, the USA/European Connection, Masquerade, Double Discovery, Companion, and Festival, he generated a vast catalog of recordings at his New York City facility ERAS. After maintaining a low profile throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, he returned in 1999 with the techno-influenced Trancesetter.
