Borusiade

Borusiade, an electronic musician and DJ from Romania, crafts darkly melodic techno and electro shaped by EBM and post-punk currents. Releases such as the 2020 album Fortunate Isolation feature her characteristically sparse, hypnotic rhythms and haunting textures alongside lyrics addressing mortality, spirituality, and transformation.

Born Miruna Boruzescu in Bucharest, she first trained as a classical musician. The experimental possibilities of electronic music soon drew her in, prompting her to begin DJing in 2002; she subsequently joined the new wave band Hector in 2005 and initiated solo productions along with the duo Stereonucleose in 2008. After relocating to Berlin, she sustained her work as a DJ and producer under the Borusiade name. Her debut EP, Jeopardy, came out on Matias Aguayo’s Cómeme label in early 2016, followed shortly by Feelings of Entropy on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant. The split EP Promises & Infatuation with the Sixteen Steps appeared via Cititrax in 2017, and the single “Silent” introduced her first full-length, A Body, issued by Cómeme in 2018. Two further EPs—their Specters in 2018 and Misfits of Broken Dreams in 2019—preceded the arrival of her second album, Fortunate Isolation, on Dark Entries in 2020.
