Biography
Boxcar Racer originated as an offshoot venture from Blink 182's Travis Barker and Thomas DeLonge, recapturing a classic punk approach. The lineup expanded with guitarist David Kennedy and bassist Anthony Celestino, allowing the ensemble to assemble during Blink 182 downtime and capture their self-titled album across the 2001/2002 winter. Stripping away much of the pop sensibility from their core output while incorporating eclectic touchstones such as the Replacements and D.R.I., the project served as a dedicated platform for tracks deemed incompatible with Blink 182.
