Biography
Brenna Whitaker, who calls Los Angeles home, delivers powerful vocals marked by high resonance and a preference for dynamic jazz blended with R&B-tinged pop. Her Kansas City, Missouri upbringing exposed her to legendary artists including Ruth Brown, Peggy Lee, and Etta James during her formative years. Professional theater work commenced for her at age 11, leading to a teenage relocation to New York City aimed at advancing her vocal training. A short stint in her early twenties involved leading a personal jazz ensemble in the Kansas City area before she headed to Los Angeles and encountered producer David Foster. With guidance from Foster, she cultivated a unique crossover style. Her debut album, bearing her own name, appeared on the Verve label in 2015.
