Biography
Brent Best, known for his affinity for grounded country and rock sounds, gained prominence primarily through his role as the frontman of the alt-country group Slobberbone. Hailing from the lively roots-oriented music community of Denton, Texas, during the middle of the 1990s, he put out multiple favorably regarded records alongside the band, one standout being their widely praised 2000 effort titled Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today. Following the 2005 dissolution of Slobberbone, Best joined forces with guitarist Jess Barr and drummer Tony Harper to create the Drams, which issued Jubilee Dive in 2006. Several concert appearances marked his 2009 reconnection with Slobberbone, and the group has maintained a steady touring schedule ever since. Outside of those commitments, Best divides his efforts among studio production work for fellow acts, tending bar locally in Denton, and pursuing his own solo career. His first collection of independent material finally saw the light of day in 2015 as the album Your Dog, Champ via Last Chance Records.
