Biography
Athens, GA-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Brent Cash launched his musical path behind the drum kit, keeping time for acts as varied as Television Buzz and the Mike Guthrie Band. While that role occupied him publicly, he was privately shaping sunshine pop-inspired gems in his own space. Occasional cassettes reached a handful of friends, yet only in the mid-2000s did Cash aim for wider goals. He brought in Andy Baker (Japancakes, Jucifer) to capture an album that mirrored the sonic fingerprint of his '60s and '70s pop/rock idols, achieving that result on the official debut How Will I Know If I'm Awake. Issued in 2008 by Marina Records—home to the Pearlfishers and Shack, and reissuers of the Free Design—the album drew widespread praise in outlets such as Q, Uncut, and Rolling Stone (Germany).
