Drawing inspiration from foundational punk acts like Cock Sparrer and the Clash, the Los Angeles-based Briggs feature siblings Joey and Jason LaRocca alongside drummer Chris X and bassist Ryan Roberts, the latter having taken over from Duck Matthews. The ensemble, initially called I Decline, had to alter their moniker after discovering its prior usage by a different group. Their debut effort, the self-released Is This What You Believe?, emerged in 2001, with Numbers arriving two years later under the production of Duane Peters from U.S. Bombs via his Disaster imprint. Securing a deal with SideOneDummy led to an additional EP ahead of the September 2006 issuance of Back to Higher Ground. Beyond appearances on the Vans Warped Tour, they have shared stages with fellow punk outfits including Flogging Molly and the Casualties.
