Biography
A German easy listening ensemble called Captain Cook und Seine Singenden Saxophone maintained an extended career while appearing onstage in identical naval midshipman uniforms. Functioning chiefly as a commercial brand, the endeavor originated under the direction of producer Günther Behrle. Frequent personnel rotations involved both the supporting musicians and the performer embodying Captain Cook, leaving saxophonist Dr. Thomas Grebel as the current wearer of the epaulets. The resulting discs mirror the largely interchangeable Mantovani and Ferrante & Teicher albums that served as their clearest models, varying primarily through thematic choices instead of any shift in musical method.
