Carmen Cuesta, spouse of the smooth jazz multi-instrumentalist Chuck Loeb who performs on synthesizer, flute and guitar, has built an independent profile as a soulful vocalist, guitarist and songwriter working in pop and jazz. After gaining experience as a backing vocalist alongside Grover Washington, Jr., Michael Franks, Gato Barbieri, Peabo Bryson, Earl Klugh and Jim Hall, and appearing as a chorus dancer in productions including Godspell, she has continued to earn recognition for her solo work. Her first solo release, the 1996 album One Kiss, included contributions from Bill Evans and Toots Thielemans and was succeeded three years afterward by Peace Of Mind.

Cuesta taught herself to play guitar and had already begun composing original material before turning fifteen. While pursuing higher education she also took on assignments in advertising spots and Spanish musical theater. At twenty-four she relocated to New York.

Performances she has given in the New York region have included support from leading jazz musicians such as Will Lee, Michael Brecker, Peter Erskine, Dave Weckl and Mitchel Forman.
