Biography
Carolyn Leonhart blends jazz vocals with a clear foothold in rock and pop. As the offspring of longtime bassist Jay Leonhart, she absorbed her jazz outlook directly from family life. Broader attention arrived in the 1990s when she served as a backing singer for the reunited Steely Dan. Soul and R&B edge color her jazz phrasing. The year 2000 brought her first U.S. release, Steal the Moon, an inspired project recorded with pianist and songwriter Rob Bargad.
