Biography
This Swiss drummer has performed in both traditional jazz and swing settings alongside European musicians as well as expatriate and visiting American players. During the 1950s he recorded in Switzerland with Bill Coleman, and from the late 1950s through the early 1960s and early 1970s he performed with the dixieland ensemble The Tremble Kids. He spent five years in the German big band of The Suddeutscher Rundfunk. His recording partners have included Wolfgang Dauner, Eugen Cicero, Stuff Smith, and Baden Powell; he has also led his own groups, worked as a session musician, and appeared with Lionel Hampton and Benny Goodman in the 1980s. At one point he was a member of Kurt Edelhagen’s big band, touring the Soviet Union with the ensemble.
