Cinnamon

The Swedish outfit Cinnamon, distinct from its Canadian namesake, originated in 1994 when songwriters Jiri Novak (guitar, keyboards) and Frida Diesen (vocals, synthesizers, guitar) came together. Bassist Samuel Laxberg and drummer Christian Ekwall joined the pair shortly afterward. Their first release, the EP Vox, appeared in 1995, with the album Summer Meditation arriving not long after. A European and American tour supported the 1997 album The Courier. In June 1999 the EP Many Moods of Cinnamon came out, followed by the full-length Vertigo that October; the latter reached the U.S. market early in 2000.
