Originally conceived as a mixed-style ensemble from Denmark, the Loft originated in 1997 through the initiative of university classmates Jakob Weise Hellum and Martin Bøge Pedersen. Blending pop, R&B, and rock, the band secured early attention by supplying several songs to the 1999 film soundtrack for Den Eneste Ene. Once that collection scored major commercial success, the Loft moved forward with plans for their first full studio album. Issued in 2004 under the title No Ordinary Man, the record gained momentum from its opening single, "City of Dreams." During 2005, Hellum and Pedersen maintained a demanding tour schedule, breaking only to develop material for the next release. Their third album, Little Paul's Blvd., arrived in 2008 and secured a solid ranking on the Danish charts by climbing to number nine.
