Claudinho & Buchecha

Embracing a sentimental approach devoid of societal commentary despite their use of rap-infused funk melodies, the onetime office clerks Claudinho & Buchecha rose swiftly within the thriving circuit of working-class suburban dances throughout the 1990s. Their debut solo album, Claudinho & Buchecha, arrived in 1996 and delivered the nationwide smash “Conquista.” The follow-up, A Forma, appeared the next year and likewise blanketed airwaves with the hit “Quero Te Encontrar.” By 1998 the pair had traded conventional turntables for bass, guitar, keyboards, and drums, steering their sound toward mainstream pop. Among the standout tracks from their subsequent three albums were “Nosso Sonho,” “Xereta,” and “Só Love.”
