Biography
San Francisco-based Conjunto Cespedes has scaled the heights of Latin music through an electrifying blend of rhumba, salsa, mambo, songo, son and jazz that ignites dance floors everywhere. The New York Times even hailed the ensemble as "the most important group in the flourishing West Coast Latin music scene."
Originally launched as a family trio built around brothers Gladys "Bobi" and Guillermo Cespedes, the outfit has grown into a vibrant 11-piece band. "Bobi" Cespedes steers the ensemble through his commanding vocals, while Guillermo handles music direction along with his contributions on bells, chekere, piano, and tres plus background vocals.
The group's first recording, Una Sola Casa, earned the NAIRD (National Association of Independent Record Distributors) Indie Award for Best Latin Recording of 1993.
