Biography
Legendary Malaysian thrash metal group Cromok originated in Australia while its four founding members pursued their studies there. Din, an original member, returned home ahead of Sam, Karl, and Miji to launch his own project, D'Cromok, in Malaysia. Once the other three completed their time abroad, they rejoined him yet proceeded without Din. The resulting sound, which blended Malaysian cultural and musical elements with Bay Area thrash and European metal vocal approaches, resonated strongly throughout the Malay metal community. From the 1991 release Image of Purity to the self-titled album in 2004, their recordings achieved underground rock success. In 2005 the members effectively retired the Cromok name by placing it on permanent hiatus, and one participant rejoined his earlier band. Din, the founding member, died tragically in the 1990s.
