Cybill Shepherd embodies a distinctive steel magnolia, a Southern beauty queen whose petal-soft exterior conceals an unyielding core. Her refined features and striking physique launched successful paths in modeling and acting, while her bold wit and comedic timing earned her a devoted following. Beneath that striking appearance lies genuine intelligence and ability. She voiced her opinions freely, most notably in a candid 2000 memoir that detailed her experiences with male co-stars, specifying which ones left certain intimate encounters unfinished, which ones rushed through them, and which ones proved most capable. Beyond modeling, acting, writing, and producing, Shepherd pursues singing. She has issued seven albums and delivered live performances in cabaret venues and nightclubs across Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and London.

Many singers begin in church choirs during childhood, and Shepherd followed that path before starting formal voice instruction at age 16. Her selections blend standards, blues, rock, and ballads. Peabo Bryson guests on her album Somewhere Down the Road. Stan Getz appears on Mad About the Boy, while Phineas Newborn Jr. features on Vanilla. Songs From the Cybill Show, released in 1999, connects directly to the television comedy series of the same name that debuted in 1995.

A native of Tennessee, Shepherd captured the Miss Teenage Memphis title in 1966 and again in 1968. Stewart Models named her Model of the Year in 1968. Her image appeared on covers of Vogue, Life, People, and Glamour. One such cover drew Peter Bogdanovich’s attention, resulting in an extended personal relationship and her lead role in his 1971 film The Last Picture Show. The Heartbreak Kid arrived the following year. Additional screen credits include Texasville, Married to It, Daisy Miller, and Taxi Driver. Her honors encompass four Golden Globes and four People’s Choice Awards. The Hollywood Radio and Television Society recognized Shepherd and her Moonlighting co-star Bruce Willis as Woman and Man of the Year in Broadcasting for their late-1980s work on the series.

Shepherd entered marriage twice. Her 1978 union with David Ford concluded in divorce in 1982. She married Bruce Oppenheim in 1987, yet that marriage also ended in divorce in 1990. She is the mother of three children.
