Biography
Dana Buoy serves as the solo outlet for Dana Janssen, the Portland-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Janssen first achieved notice in the mid-2000s while playing in the Brooklyn indie rock band Akron/Family. After moving cross-country to Portland, Oregon in 2010, he launched a series of brightly hued bedroom pop recordings under the Dana Buoy name. His 2012 debut album Summer Bodies reflected both the recent relocation and an emerging romantic relationship through its warmly exuberant tone and lightly experimental feel. The Preacher EP followed in 2014 and moved into more electronic-oriented territory. Dana Buoy returned in early 2018 with the full-length Ice Glitter Gold, introduced beforehand by its title track and the single "Twisted Sky."
