Danheim

Emerging from the work of Danish multi-instrumentalist and producer Mike Schæfer Olsen, the dark Nordic folk endeavor Danheim fuses Viking mythology with ambient Scandinavian folk textures to conjure an icy atmosphere that recalls the sonic heathenry of acts such as Wardruna and Hagalaz Runedance. Olsen first turned to his own cultural roots through music in the early 2000s, guided by runic legends and Danish folklore. Under the Danheim name he issued his initial recordings in 2017, opening with the albums Munarvagr and Mannavegr. The following year he established the independent imprint Fimbul Records to handle subsequent Danheim material alongside releases from additional Nordic folk artists. That same year saw the arrival of Herja and Fridr, while Runagaldr and Hringras followed in early 2019.
