Hedningarna

Hedningarna, a Nordic ensemble, came together in Sweden through the efforts of multi-instrumentalists Anders Stake, Björn Tollin, and Hållbus Totte Mattsson. Their initial self-titled album from 1989 consisted solely of instrumentals, yet Finnish singers Sanna Kurki-Suonio and Anita Lehtola had become part of the group ahead of the 1992 release Kaksi!. The year 1994 saw the arrival of Trä, followed by Fire two years afterward. Among later outputs were Hippjokk in 1997 and Karelia Visa in 1999. NorthSide put out a reissue of the debut recording in 2001, while 2003 brought forth the much-needed career-spanning retrospective 1989-2003.
