Biography
Frifot brought together three leading voices from Sweden’s modern folk scene—vocalist and fiddler Lena Willemark, fiddler and bagpiper Per Gudmundson, and multi-instrumentalist Ale Moller. The group reached American listeners for the first time in 1999 through NorthSide’s SummerSong, an album whose contents had until then been accessible solely via the Swedish Caprice imprint. ECM simultaneously released the trio’s self-titled recording that year, drawing positive critical notice. NorthSide followed with the next collection, Sluring, four years afterward.
