Daniel Lavoie, a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician, launched his professional music career during the 1970s. Equally at ease performing in English or his native French, he issued his debut album in 1979. Subsequent releases appeared in both languages, with some presented bilingually. In addition to his studio and stage work, appearances in rock operas helped broaden his audience across new regions.

Born in Manitoba, Canada, Lavoie developed an early passion for music shared by many performers. After honing his abilities through intimate performances, he transitioned into recording. His initial English-language effort, Nirvana Blue, came out on Apex Records in 1979. The following year brought Les Felix, succeeded in 1981 by Daniel Lavoie - Collection. Cravings arrived in 1982, and Tension, Attention in 1984. Throughout the ensuing decade and afterward, he alternated between French and English projects to reach listeners globally.

Tracks featured on his 1994 release Woman to Man include "Here in the Heart," "Running Into Walls," "Paris Calling," "I Wish It Would Rain," "Looking Out for You," and "Hello Louise."
