Biography
Hailing from the East Coast, award-winning comedian Dave Attell specializes in a raunchy, old-school form of standup that recalls the styles of Richard Pryor and Sam Kinison. Once he finished his studies at NYU, the self-described "joke comic" abandoned his regular job to chase comedy full time. That move led to writing and performing duties on Saturday Night Live plus guest spots on series including Everybody Loves Raymond and Late Night With Conan O'Brien. The exposure produced a recurring appearance on The Daily Show With John Stewart and a partnership with Comedy Central that later yielded his own program. Insomniac With Dave Attell launched in 2000 and quickly ranked among the network's top successes, generating fan clubs, imitators, four prosperous seasons, and a subsequent DVD. In February 2003 Attell issued the live standup album Skanks for the Memories.
