Luther Dickinson handled vocals and guitar for the thrash-funk trio DDT, sharing duties with his brother Cody on percussion; the pair were the sons of legendary Memphis producer Jim Dickinson. Paul Taylor supplied bass for the original lineup, which released the live album Some of My Best Friends Are Blues in 1994 and followed it two years later with the concert set Live at the World Famous Antenna Club. Adding vocalist Kelley Hurt, sax player Jim Spake, and keyboardist Chris Parker shifted the band into the DDT Big Band and its expansive electric boogie approach; after Taylor left to join Big Ass Truck, the Dickinsons enlisted bassist Chris Chew to launch the North Mississippi Allstars.
