Biography
Growing up surrounded by a household of musicians, Deedrah—also called Dado—began formal music lessons at age five and drew early influence from the era’s electronic sounds of Jean Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Simple Minds. His initial venture came through the rock group Vision Quest, which dissolved in 1990. Shortly afterward he joined forces with Christophe Drouillet within a French wave scene and together they launched the psychedelic trance project Transwave. The pair finished their debut album in just three months, issuing it on the modest French imprint Transpact. Across the following two years Transwave delivered three further releases—Helium, Phototropic, and the Land of Freedom EP—while touring globally, building a strong following in the psychedelic trance underground and achieving international recognition via the track “Land of Freedom.” Dado subsequently founded his own imprint and production facility, Questionmark RDS, and in 1997 unveiled the solo album Self-Oscillation under the Deedrah moniker, marking his initial move away from the psychedelic goa trance style. In the years that followed he recorded under several additional pseudonyms, among them Cypher, DanDan d Dado, and Synthetic. Planned collaborations include work with trance figures Tsuyoshi Suzuki (Tokio Drome), Astral Projection (Trust in Trance), Sid Shanti (Manumission), Avi Algranati (Space Cats), Total Eclipse, and Jaia. As a DJ, Deedrah has performed across New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, Copenhagen, London, Tel Aviv, Montreal, Melbourne, Sydney, Athens, Sao Paulo, Moscow, and Bali. At the close of 2000 he established a fresh studio in the Spanish countryside town of Ibiza, where he began crafting house and lounge material under the alias Fédérico Baltimore for Cosmophilia, TIP WORLD, and 3D Vision. His second full-length effort, the opus Reload, appeared in 2001; the melodic collection surveys hypnotic trance textures with only faint traces of earlier psychedelia, occupying a space between John Digweed and Paul Van Dyk.
